Jamie Redknapp aims on-air dig at Man United boss Erik ten Hag during Carabao Cup draw

Jamie Redknapp aimed an on-air dig at Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag while conducting the Carabao Cup fourth-round draw on Wednesday evening.

The former Liverpool midfielder was on Sky Sports duty as Liverpool hosted West Ham United at Anfield and was then part of the broadcaster's coverage for the subsequent cup draw, alongside ex-West Ham midfielder Kevin Nolan.

After witnessing Redknapp draw the Red Devils' ball out of the pot, host Mark Chapman declared: "They were at home in the last round and thrashed Barnsley 7-0".

That prompted a smiling Redknapp, who responded "Erik will be happy" with a wry smile before raising his eyebrows. This comes after Redknapp recently suggested there was an issue between Ten Hag and Marcus Rashford after the forward was left out of the United squad to take on Crystal Palace last week.

"It feels like something has gone untoward," Redknapp said. "I don't know the details. But you don't drop a player that has scored two in midweek and against Southampton .

"I'd be nervous to say he is back but he is showing signs of the Rashford from two years ago. It feels like something's happened maybe this week, I don't know the manager's frustration. It is unusual for a manager to out players for their lifestyle.

"Sir Alex Ferguson would have never done it, whereas Ten Hag has done it on a few occasions. It is not always beneficial to the players."

These comments did not go down well with the United boss, who furiously replied in a press conference ahead of Wednesday’s Europa
