James Ward-Prowse makes Leicester City admission ahead of final Premier League game

Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse believes Leicester City are an inspiration to teams like the Saints as they look to ‘emulate’ the club in the coming seasons.

City host Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side in the final Premier League game of the season on Sunday (4pm kick-off) when both teams will be looking to end the campaign on a high. A win for City gives them a good chance of finishing in eighth place in the table with Wolves playing title-chasing Liverpool.

It has been an up and down season for City after their successes of recent years, but a win over Southampton will see them end the campaign on a high.

City have lifted the Premier League, FA Cup and Community Shield in recent seasons as well as playing European football. It’s those achievements that serve as an inspiration to other clubs.

Ahead of the game, Ward-Prowse has outlined the importance of finishing the season on a high as well as outline the challenge that City will pose to him and his teammates. "Hugely important, the last game of the season and everyone wants to finish well, and send everyone away happy and looking forward to next season," He told HampshireLive .

"It is a good challenge, Leicester are a great team who have had a lot of success in recent years. It is a club that we can definitely look to try and emulate in terms of what they have achieved and it will be a good challenge for us."

Southampton currently sit in 15th place in the Premier League table, having failed to win any of their last five games. With Aston Villa five points ahead of them in the table, they are unable to climb any higher, but could finish in 16th position depending on Everton’s result against Champions League-chasing Arsenal.
