James Tavernier writes Rangers history as fresh Hibs lesson dished out to reach Premiership summit – 3 talking points

James Tavernier wrote his name into the record books as he grabbed the 131st goal of his career to help send Rangers back to the top of the Premiership.

The Rangers skipper opened the scoring at Ibrox as he moved clear of former Scotland ace Graham Alexander to become the highest-scoring defender British football has ever seen. He’s netted 123 of those since moving to Glasgow in 2015 and now has 22 for the season - but he would have had another had he not missed his second spot-kick in a row against Hibs with the game goalless.
