James Norwood sends message to fellow out of contract Ipswich Town man as Portman Road exits confirmed

Striker James Norwood has paid tribute to goalkeeper Tomas Holy after it was confirmed that both players will leave Ipswich Town this summer.

Both Norwood and Holy joined Ipswich back in the summer of 2019, arriving from Tranmere Rovers and Gillingham respectively.

Norwood would go on to make 88 appearances in all competitions for the Tractor Boys, scoring 28 goals in that time.

Holy meanwhile, featured 65 times for Ipswich, before spending the second half of this season on loan with League Two promotion hopefuls Port Vale.

But with both players seeing their contracts at Portman Road expire this summer, the pair are set to head to pastures new in the summer, after it was confirmed that the League One club will not extend their deals.

In response to that, it seems Norwood is keen to see Holy succeed with whatever it is the goalkeeper goes on to do next.

Taking to his Instagram page to send a message to Holy after news of their departures from Ipswich was announced, Norwood wrote: “My brother. Good luck on your next adventure. We will meet again.”

The Verdict

It is perhaps no surprise that there appears to be something of a connection between Norwood and Holy here.

Both players arrived at Ipswich at around the same time, so they will have been on fairly similar journeys during their time with the club, and had the same experiences.

While that is now at an end, with both players clearly possessing the ability to make an impact in the Football League, you imagine both will have offer to consider in the summer.

As a result, there is still likely to be something for Norwood to keep an eye on with regards to Holy’s next adventure, and you do wonder whether that could even see them reunited at another club.
