James Maddison and Patson Daka respond to huge Leicester City contract announcement

A number of Leicester City players new and old have responded to the news that Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has committed his future to the club.

The City academy graduate enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2021/22, making a big impact in the first team. He made a total of 43 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and was named as young player of the year and players’ player of the year at the end of the campaign.

And the 23-year-old has been rewarded for his performances after returning from a loan spell at Luton the previous season. It was confirmed on Friday that the local lad had put pen-to-paper on a new five-year deal at the King Power Stadium.

Following confirmation of the news, Dewsbury-Hall took to social media to send a heartfelt message to fans. “It’s hard to describe how happy I am to sign a new deal with this great club,” he wrote.

“I will keep on giving everything I have for more success in the future. Looking forward to what next season has to bring!”

That message prompted a response from fans and players alike with a number of current and former players sending their congratulations to the player. James Maddison replied with “Yesssssir. Fully deserved,” while also putting a message reading: “Yhhhhh boyyyy” on his Instagram stories.

Former midfielders and title winners Andy King and Danny Drinkwater also sent their messages of congratulations to Dewsbury-Hall, who would have been coming through the academy when both players were at the club. Last season’s loanee Ademola Lookman also responded as the wait goes on to see if City will make the winger’s move permanent this summer.
