Jake Hastie seals Rangers transfer exit as forgotten winger shipped out on Linfield loan

Rangers outcast Jake Hastie has been sent out on loan to Linfield on a short-term loan deal.

The 23-year-old endured a tough time with the Championship with Partick Thistle earlier this season and his season-long loan was cut short.

Hastie mainly appeared off the bench for Ian McCall's side and hasn't played since October 30.

But former Rangers striker striker David Healy, now managing Linfield, has taken the winger on loan until the end of the campaign in March.

He told the club website : "Jake will certainly strengthen the squad and give us further options over the coming months.

"He’s got plenty of experience from playing in Scotland and we are looking forward to him joining up with us next week.

"I know the news of his signing will be a real boost to the club and the supporters who will no doubt make hom feel welcome and at home."

Hastie is under contract at Ibrox until the end of next season and will hope to catch the eye of boss Gio van Bronckhorst in Northern Ireland, having made made just two first-team appearances for the club since his 2019 arrival.

Big things were expected from the winger when he was snapped up as a free agent from Motherwell.

He burst onto the scene at Fir Park, and quickly caught the eye of then-manager Steven Gerrard.

Hastie was then shipped out on loan to Rotherham, and then made his return to the Steelmen during an ill-fated return last term before joining the Jags.
