Jadon Sancho exit 'scuppered by Manchester United demand' plus more transfer rumours

Jadon Sancho had wanted to move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq but a deal broke down due to Manchester United insisting on a £50million obligation-to-buy clause, a report claims.

The winger’s future has been up in the air this week following his public disagreement with Erik ten Hag over training levels. A switch to Saudi Arabia was mooted as a possibility with the nation's transfer window remaining open until Thursday.

Sancho was apparently the subject of a loan offer from Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq, whom Jordan Henderson signed for this summer. That’s according to the Daily Mail, which adds that the move only broke down due to United’s future-sale demand.

It says Sancho was considering the switch but the £50m fee was ‘too much’ for the Saudis to promise. Sky Sports says the player and club staff are due to speak during the international break with all parties committed to improving his game.

Sancho has played three times this season, all of them coming from off the bench. Ten Hag said he was left out of the squad against Arsenal due to not being at the required standard in training, with Sancho responding by releasing his social media statement in which he claimed he has been treated as a ‘scapegoat’.

Meanwhile, former United defender Axel Tuanzebe has joined Ipswich Town. The defender was released by the Reds in the summer after 37 senior appearances and in recent years, he had been loaned out to Aston Villa, Napoli and Stoke City.

Reports had suggested he was in talks to join Real Betis in Spain after speaking to Sheffield United and Luton Town but he has instead renewed ties with former United coach Kieran McKenna at Portman Road.
