Jack Harrison and Jesse Marsch address Leeds United winger's future amid Newcastle United links

Jack Harrison was unconvincing in his response when asked about his Leeds United future during their pre-season tour of Australia. The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Newcastle United for much of the summer as Eddie Howe continues to look to bolster his squad.

The Whites were beaten 1-0 by Aston Villa in Australia on Sunday morning in the latest of their preparations for the upcoming Premier League season. After the match, Harrison was asked whether he will be staying put at Leeds this summer as rumours circulate about a potential North-east switch.

“We’ll see, we’ll see what happens,” he said, seemingly caught off guard by the question. His manager, Jesse Marsch, then fielded a question regarding the comments made by Harrison and he made it abundantly clear that the wideman was a key part of his long-term plans at Elland Road.

“There’s always been interest in Jack, like many of our players,” he told LeedsLive. “But I know that Jack is also very happy here and that he’s done a really good, that he’s a big part of what we’re doing.

“Of course there’s always possibilities that big transfer offers come in and clubs then have to decide how it fits and what are the best options moving forward. But, for me, Jack Harrison is a big part of our plans moving forward and we’re counting on him this season, for sure."

Reports over the weekend claimed that Leeds would only consider parting ways with Harrison for a bid of more than £35m. After losing both Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha already this summer, they will be desperate to hold onto the rest of their key players from last season.
