Jack Grealish running out of time to avoid Man City 'trouble' after Pep Guardiola warning

Former Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish has been advised to "get his head down" and adapt his game to what Pep Guardiola demands at Manchester City.

The England international has admittedly made a slow start to life at the Etihad having scored three goals in 25 appearances in all competitions, but he will need to continue impressing City boss Guardiola with only a few months left of the Premier League season.

Grealish took no time at all to settle in his new surroundings, claimed Guardiola back in November, but the Spaniard did fire a warning that he must adapt quickly on the pitch.

The former Villa talisman has only registered one Premier League goal contribution since the end of October and has taken some time to find his feet in City's system.

Guardiola was asked if it would take until next season for Grealish to produce his best on the eve of City's trip to Villa Park a few months ago.

“He’ll be in trouble [if so] - we want to see it now," he replied.

"I would say he’s settled perfectly, he knows many English players, and the other guys are nice people.

“He’s not a problem, he plays good, but has to find a bit of time, if you analyse the games, he’s not played bad. With the quality he has, it’s difficult to play badly. Playing every three days, it's different for him, but he did it incredibly well.

“What he did at Villa was amazing, helping them get up and stay there."

Former Villa boss Alex McLeish thinks Grealish will rediscover his best form and has also urged the 26-year-old to "get out of the limelight" and focus on his football after a video shared on social media showed Grealish, Kyle Walker and Riyad Mahrez out in Manchester city centre on Sunday evening.
