Trippier, Wilson, Targett - Newcastle team news vs Aston Villa
England full-back Kieran Trippier will face a late fitness test prior to Newcastle's fixture with Aston Villa on Sunday.
The 31-year-old sustained a calf issue late on after scoring a brilliant free-kick in Toon's impressive 3-1 victory over Everton in midweek.
"We don't think it's a long term injury but we'll have to make a late call on him. He's been so important for us in recent games," said boss Eddie Howe.
Elsewhere for the Magpies, Howe will continue to be without Jamal Lewis (groin), Callum Wilson (calf), Matt Ritchie (knee), Isaac Hayden (knee) and Federico Fernandez (thigh).
Newcastle loanee from Villa, Matt Targett, will miss Sunday's clash because he's ineligible to play against his parent club following his deadline day move.
Targett, 26, impressed on his debut against Everton in midweek but Newcastle will be forced into a change at left-back.
"We've got a decision to make at left back - it's not an easy one," Howe said. "Manquillo has been consistently good in different positions - and that's one of his strengths, his versatility.
"Dan Burn can play there and we've got Paul Dummett potentially returning to fitness."
Newcastle go into their clash with Steven Gerrard's Villa off the back of back-to-back victories over Leeds and Everton, while Howe's men are unbeaten in their last four Premier League matches (W2 D2).
Following their £300million takeover by Saudi investors, Toon spent around £90million in last month's transfer window to bring in Trippier, Dan Burn, Chris Wood, Targett and £40million signing Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon, with the latter pushing for his first start against Villa this weekend.
On midfielder Guimaraes, Howe said: "He's ready to play. He's shown all the technical qualities that we love
