ITV Love Island's Iain Stirling in hot water with viewers over comment about show

We're only one episode in to the brand new series of Love Island and things are already getting under the skin of viewers. Fans watched on Monday night (June 6) as a fresh bunch of singletons made their way into the brand new villa in Mallorca.

Five girls - Paige, Indiyah, Tasha, Amber and Gemma - made their grand entrance through the new heart arch as they officially started their summer of love before the boys - Dami, Liam, Ikenna, Andrew and Luca - arrived.

But in a brand new twist, the decision as to who they'd be coupled up with wasn't in their hands as the public was given the chance to vote for who they wanted to be together before the first episode of the 2022 series even aired.

Host Laura Whitmore was in the villa to reveal the news before telling the girls, one by one, who they'd start their Love Island journey with. However, the surprises didn't end there as the first bombshell of the series made their appearance.

As the sun set on the first day in the villa, David Sanclimenti made an appearance. He turned heads within seconds of his arrival and caused a stir among viewers when he walked into the villa in a partially unbuttoned shirt.

The business owner, who is from Rome but lives in Manchester, shocked his fellow Islanders and after a steamy game of dares - and the boys admitting the new boy had set the cat amongst the pigeons - Davide received a text that looks certain to start the drama.

"Davide, in 24 hours you will couple up with a girl of your choice, leaving one boy single and vulnerable #italiansnack #ciaobella," he reads out to the rest of the villa before the first episode of the series came to an end.
