ITV Love Island fans say 'please' over show's announcement as viewers spot 'real villain' of series

Love Island fans were left saying 'please' as an announcement was made just moments after Sanam Harrinanan and Kai Fagan were crowned as the winners of the second-ever winter run of the ITV2 dating show. The couple, who met in the South African villa during the controversial Casa Amor twist, emerged victorious during Monday night's final (March 13) of the ninth series.

The pair beat fellow couples Lana Jenkins and Ron Hall, who landed up in second place, and Samie Elishi and Tom Clare, who finished in third position, during the final episode which saw host Maya Jama return to the South African villa. Tanya Mahenga and Shaq Muhammad placed fourth following a public vote.

The last episode of the series saw the four remaining girls leave the villa for a luxurious spa day, before returning to share declarations of love with their partners. Decked out in tuxedos and elegant dresses, the contestants each gathered by the pool before standing to read to each other in front of a heart-shaped arch.

"We're heading back to Mallorca this summer and you can apply to be in the villa right now!" the caption of the post began. "Just head to itv.com/loveisland/apply for all the info #LoveIsland," it added.

And fans of the show were quick to comment. @ca1tlinsin cried: "It’s been
