'It was coming' - Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United masterstroke during seven-goal thriller

Darren Bent detailed how Sir Alex Ferguson utilised his goalscoring firepower to perform a masterstroke against Tottenham Hotspur after being 2-0 down.

The trophy-laden manager is hailed as one of the best managers in the world and he helped guide United to 13 Premier League titles during his time at the helm.

Harry Redknapp was in charge at Spurs at the time and they found themselves in the surprising position of leading 2-0 at the break at the Theatre of Dreams in 2009.

Bent, who scored the opener in the game, explained how the leaders went in "high-fiving" but a tactical tweak from Sir Alex lead to the game spinning on its head.

"So they've got Tevez, Rooney, Ronaldo, they then add Berbatov. I'm at Spurs, we got 2-0 up at Old Trafford, half-time we're all high-fiving," he said on talkSPORT.

"Two-nil up at half-time, we've gone in, we're not getting carried away but obviously high-fiving, you don't score two at Old Trafford winning 2-0, come back and got beat 5-2.

"I remember we come out at half-time and I swear, Sir Alex at his best, went 'alright, fair enough' went 4-2-4.

"[Ronaldo, Tevez,] Berbatov and Rooney [as the front four] he left [Michael] Carrick and [Paul] Scholes as quarter-backs, had [Patrice] Evra bombing down one wing, we got beat 5-2.

"I remember as the half was going and the crowd was getting louder, the moment they got the first you knew it was coming."

Wayne Rooney went on to score a hat-trick with Cristiano Ronaldo and Dimitar Berbatov adding to the score.
