Inventing Anna: What happened to Anna Delvey and where is she now?

Based on the real events surrounding convicted fraudster Anna Delvey - whose real name is Anna Sorokin.

Netflix’s Inventing Anna follows the story of a journalist investigating the case of Anna - who stole the hearts and money of New York elites by posing as a rich heiress under the surname Delvey.

The series is a combination of fact and fiction and viewers are keen to know where Anna Delvey is now and if she’s still in prison.

Anna Sorokin is currently being held in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody in New York. The past year she has been in the ICE detention centre, where is fighting against deportation to Germany.

In 2017 she was arrested and in 2019 she was convicted and sentenced to four to 12 years in prison.

However, in February 2021 she was released from prison on good behaviour. Shortly after she was taken back into custody for overstaying her visa.

She is currently awaiting resolution to her pending case at the ICE.

Delvey got caught in 2017 after failing to pay hefty fines to the Manhattan hotel.

Before she was arrested she lived for several years in 2010s as a wealthy German heiress of her own invention.
