Agitated England star going nowhere as reason emerges for Man Utd, Liverpool snub

Reports in Germany claim Jude Bellingham will shun interest from the Premier League this summer and stay at Borussia Dortmund for at least another season.

The 18-year-old joined BVB from Birmingham City in the summer of 2020. Despite his tender years, the Bundesliga outfit handed him 19 starts among 29 top-flight appearances last term. He enjoyed 44 outings in all competitions, scoring four goals.

And the talented schemer has been busy in 2021-2022, with 22 league starts and 34 overall appearances. The Stourbridge-born youngster has notched six goals and contributed 10 assists during a superb campaign.

His stock was already high but it has risen even further, prompting many clubs to be linked. Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool are said to be monitoring his situation with interest.

But Dortmund do not want to lose the England international. And it was reported back in December last year that they were prepared to sign his younger brother, Jobe, from Birmingham.

However, Bild, per Metro, state that Bellingham has already informed the BVB hierarchy that he will not leave in the summer. And the report adds that the teenager could remain beyond the summer of 2023, with his current contract running to 2025.

That will be a blow to any potential suitor, with United and Liverpool thought to head the queue in England. A major bid by any of the trio could alter the club’s thinking.

Dortmund have a knack of buying young players and developing them before selling for huge profits. They did it with Jadon Sancho and have an ace in the pack with Erling Haaland.

Bellingham is likely to return to England at some stage but it might not be for some time.

Bellingham has been vocal in his criticism of the Dortmund team in recent weeks.
