'Intelligent' - Tottenham target praised by manager Jesse Marsch after goal in Leeds draw

Jack Harrison has been praised by Leeds manager Jesse Marsch after a goalscoring performance in his side's 1-1 draw with Southampton at Elland Road on Saturday.

It was reported by the Daily Express last week that Tottenham were preparing a bid for the 25-year-old Englishman after missing out on Adama Traore in January.

Harrison scored a poked finish in the 29th minute of his side's Premier League fixture on Saturday afternoon before James Ward-Prowse scored a 49th minute equaliser with a trademark stunning free-kick.

Harrison's performance led manager Marsch to praise his contribution and progress made in recent months, he explained: “I feel like Jack is becoming a really solid, clear, intelligent, intensive player for us,”, as reported by Leeds Live.

“So you know, obviously, we want to keep developing him and keep pushing him but I’ve been really happy with the progress that he’s made over the last month and I think if he can continue to understand tactically and understand the mentality of the way we want to play, that he can get better and better and better.”

Harrison is a left-footed wide man who is capable of operating on either flank and is more direct than current option Dejan Kulusevski, who has nevertheless impressed since joining on loan from Juventus.

Harrison is United's second top goalscorer this season but has not enjoyed the sort of form that he showed in the 2020/21 season and will hope that he can return to his best between now and the end of the season, with a big transfer potentially on the table this summer.
