Insider: West Ham move for 'world class' international who Moyes loves is now more than likely

As per West Ham United insider Claret & Hugh, the Irons and manager David Moyes could make a move for West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone this summer.

The Baggies shot stopper is set to leave West Brom at the end of this season as a free agent with West Ham tipped to be one of the many clubs vying for his signature this summer.

Johnstone, who has earned call-ups to the England national team by manager Gareth Southgate over this past year, is apparently a personal target of manager David Moyes.

The Scotsman is allegedly a ‘big admirer’ of West Brom’s number one with C&H now sharing an update on West Ham’s links.

According to the insider, it looks ‘more than likely’ that the Hammers ‘will move’ for Johnstone as a free agent amid uncertainty surrounding the future of loanee number two Alphonse Areola.

The West Brom ace’s agent, Will Salthouse, is also a favourite of chairman David Sullivan’s – thereby making this move ‘more than possible’.

C&H add that, with all these factors taken into consideration, this is a transfer that ‘could easily happen early in the summer.’

On a free deal, this certainly seems like a no-brainer, especially going by his homegrown status, the fact Johnstone is still in his prime and how he could join West Ham for zero cost.

Wolves legend Steve Bull has called the keeper ‘world class‘ and his former boss Sam Allardyce has gone one step further – lavishing Johnstone as ‘one of the best‘ in his position.

The 28-year-old, we believe, could certainly come as a shrewd addition for Moyes.
