Pundit slams 'very poor' West Ham trio for recent performances

Former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor has slammed the recent form of a trio of West Ham stars.

Michail Antonio, Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals were all in the firing line as David Moyes’ side struggle to keep pace with the Premier League top four.

The Irons’ have won just once in five league games and have dropped to fifth place as a consequence.

Speaking to Football Insider, Agbonlahor has criticised the three attackers for allowing their form to dip.

“They will finish eighth this season. Wolves will be ahead of them, Wolves have got more in the locker than West Ham. They are overreliant on Michail Antonio and he’s been very poor for a long time, for me. Whenever he gets on the ball his first touch is not great. Benrahma and Fornals have also been very poor. The only performers have been Bowen and Rice, everyone else has been poor. They’ve got no chance of making the top-four and no chance of making the top-six.”

Collectively the three mentioned have scored 22 times across all competitions this season – albeit Antonio is without a goal in six matches.

If the Irons are indeed going to achieve big things this season, getting Antonio firing on all cylinders quickly is imperative.

Despite the upturn in goal contributions from Jarrod Bowen having supplemented the underperforming Jamaican impressively, recent results have suffered from having too many key players out of sorts.

As for Benrahma and Fornals, both Nikola Vlasic and Manuel Lanzini may feel they are deserving of a run in the starting lineup.
