Inside Ianis Hagi's lavish wedding as Rangers star's dad Gheorghe shows off fancy footwork on the dance floor

Ianis Hagi was forced into a painful spilt from Rangers earlier this season but tied the knot with the true love of his life in a lavish Christmas Day wedding.

The Romanian is currently on loan at Spanish side Alaves and took full advantage of the La Liga winter break as he walked down the aisle with sweetheart Elena Tanase in a mega Bucharest bash with legendary dad Gheorghe wowing the 400 guests as he displayed a different kind of fancy footwork which made him one of the world’s top players in his heyday as he took centre stage on the dance floor.

Hagi proposed to his girlfriend in the summer while he was still at Rangers when he popped the question during a romantic break to Paris, surrounded by flowers in front of the City of Love’s landmark Eiffel Tower. The wedding made headline news in Romania with his wife stealing the show in a floor-length red dress from American designer Marchesa. No expense was spared in the glitzy affair which took place in the north of the city.

With many of Rangers’ summer signings struggling to hit the heights expected at Ibrox, the decision by former boss Michael Beale to allow the 25-year-old to leave Glasgow was questioned. Hagi was initially signed on loan from Genk when Steven Gerrard was in charge before his move was made permanent and he penned an extension shortly after Beale took over, while he was out with a long term ACL injury, tying him to the club until 2026.
