Ex-Rangers star has Cambuslang Rangers boss raving after crucial league win

Cambuslang Rangers boss Paul McColl was left raving about former Rangers winger Owen McGinty as his side beat Thorniewood United 2-1 to move up to 12th in the West of Scotland First Division.

McGinty bagged his first Camby goal to level the scores, before Armand Dollani netted a late penalty to seal all three points in a hard-fought win that hauled them out of the relegation zone.

McColl says McGinty, 22, isn’t yet fully fit, but reckons he has a quality player on his hands when he is.

He said: “The boy Owen McGinty was excellent, as was Dollani.

“There was a wee fight over the penalty, but Armand takes the penalties, and nobody’s going to argue with him.

“Dollani is a top player and so is the wee boy McGinty.

“He’s probably about 60 to 70 per cent fit, but once he’s fully fit you’ll see how good he is, how technically good he is.

“He’s playing on a park that’s not like a bowling green or anything like that – we couldn’t roll it because it had been frosty all week.

“But he’s very good. He’s tiny, but on the ball he’ll turn you inside-out.

“On another day he would have got a hat-trick, he probably should have got another goal or two, but he’s been not far away.

“He can play, you can tell why so many teams wanted him years ago, and he’s getting fitter.

“He was good on Saturday and I’m glad for him, because I think he came to us lacking confidence in himself.

“He says he’s enjoying it, he likes it here, which is great.”

McColl added: “It’s not just those two, a few of our defenders were injured and struggling, and we’re quite short of players.

“There are a few out injured, a few who have chucked it, some have been sold and all that stuff, but we’ve managed to do all right.

“Every team in this league is quite similar to each
