Ibane Bowat to Aberdeen transfer fee agreed but face battle with 2 Austrian clubs for Fulham kid

Aberdeen have agreed a £500,000 fee with Fulham for Ibane Bowat - but now LASK and Red Bull Salzburg have joined the chase.

The Dons have thrashed out a deal with the Cottagers for the Scotland under-21 defender and could eventually see the fee hit more than £1 million with add-ons. Aberdeen have held talks with Bowat but have still to agree personal terms. Austrian sides LASK and Red Bull Salzburg have now come into the fight. They are both in discussions with Fulham over a potential fee.

Bowat has attracted strong Austrian interest on the back of his successful loan at TSV Hartberg last season. Italian side AC Milan are also interested but that would be more as a squad player. The left-sided central defender came through the ranks at Chelsea before he moved to Fulham and turned pro with them in 2022.

Bowat has also previously had a loan spell in Holland with Den Bosch. Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin wants to bring in another central defender and has put Bowat amongst his top targets.

He has already lined up a move for Finnish winger Topi Keskinen from HJK in a £860,000 move.

The Dons are ready to invest some of the money they are going to net from Bojan Miovski’s pending move to Girona, which could eventually net them more than £7,000,000.
