Ian Holloway makes West Brom Championship promotion prediction

Former Championship manager Ian Holloway thinks West Brom's next two fixtures will make or break their chances of promotion this campaign.

The Baggies are currently five points off a place in the play-offs having won their first game in seven against Hull City on Saturday.

It was their first win under new manager Steve Bruce after Valerien Ismael was sacked last month following a poor run of form.

West Brom's promotion hopes are now resting on their next two fixtures, according to Holloway. He claims Bruce's side could mount a promotion bid, but must start climbing the table from 13th position and quickly.

However, West Brom will host two automatic promotion hopefuls, Fulham and Huddersfield, in the next nine days.

"I think that if you look at the table, which we do a lot, we try to get things as close as they could happen as possible," Holloway said on Quest TV.

"So for me, in my experience, the next two games are the making of West Brom.

"If they can get four points, maybe six out of their next two - they’ve got Fulham and Huddersfield - then wow, but they need to do it now because there is a lot of traffic and teams above them."

Albion will play host to second-placed Huddersfield on Friday (8pm kick-off) before leaders Fulham come to the Hawthorns a week on Tuesday, March 15 (8pm kick-off).
