Ian Evatt's judgement on Bolton Wanderers August run including Sheffield Wednesday & Port Vale

Ian Evatt admits Bolton Wanderers have a 'really tough' start to the League One season in August with clashes against Sheffield Wednesday and Port Vale among the tricky fixtures they will encounter.

The Whites started the League One season last weekend on the road to Ipswich Town. Evatt's side picked up a point at Portman Road as they got their campaign up and running.

Wanderers have a busy month in store with games in the league and cup competitions to come. This weekend sees them take on Wycombe Wanderers in League One.

In the league, Wanderers have trips to Port Vale and Plymouth Argyle, as well as entertaining Morecambe and Sheffield Wednesday at the University of Bolton Stadium. There are also Carabao Cup and Papa John's Trophy clashes versus Salford City and Crewe Alexandra respectively.

Evatt is under no illusions of the tests that will face his side over the course of the coming month. He believes Vale Park and a Valiants side coming up from League Two will be a challange in particular.

Team selection decisions will be made based upon the opposition the Whites will face in the coming weeks as Evatt hopes to see progression throughout the month. But with the squad he has at his disposal, Evatt is hoping his side can impose themselves upon the division despite a start which he feels is 'as challenging as it gets'.

He said: “Throw into that Port Vale, which is not a nice place to go and they have just been promoted so are used to winning games. It is a really tough start but it is a good test for us and where we are at.

"We feel like we have a really good squad of players and that will be utilised horses
