Port Vale vs Bolton Wanderers LIVE: Build-up, early team news, match updates & reaction

Bolton Wanderers are aiming to keep their unbeaten start to the League One season going when they face Port Vale this afternoon.

The Whites have four points from their opening two matches in the third tier of English football. A point on the road on the opening weekend versus Ipswich Town was followed up with an impressive 3-0 victory over Wycombe Wanderers.

Bolton booked their place in the second round of the Carabao Cup with a big 5-1 win over Salford City. Their reward is hosting Premier League side Aston Villa later this month.

But for now, those cup exploits are on the back burner and all focus is on the League One campaign and beginning the good start to the season. They travel to Vale Park to take on Port Vale.

This weekend's opponents Vale won promotion to League Two via the play-offs last season. Darrell Clarke's side will be aiming to cement their status in the third tier of English football this season.

These two sides met last season in the Papa John's Trophy group stage and Wanderers came out on top. The last time these two sides clashed in the league was in the 2020/21 season, with Gethin Jones securing a 1-0 victory in their last trip to Vale Park.

We'll be live throughout the day bringing you all the updates from Vale Park. We'll bring you all the build-up, team news, match action and reaction from Ian Evatt to see if the Whites can maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign.
