I will always cherish Olusosun and its people – Osimhen

Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen says he will always cherish Olusosun and its people after Nigeria’s rave of the moment in football paid a visit to the community he grew up in.

It was just like a carnival in Olusosun, an area close to Ojota in Lagos State on Thursday when Osimhen visited the area where he was born in a program titled “Back to roots”.

Recall that after Osimhen led Napoli to win the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years, the community honoured him by placing a congratulatory message at the major entrance to the area.

The 24-year-old on Thursday decided to reciprocate their kind gesture towards him by paying a visit to Olusosun and after the event, he showered encomium on the people in the community.

“Returning to where my football dream and journey began in Olusosun gives me so many goosebumps. I am humbled and grateful for the roots that shaped my dreams,” Osimhen tweeted.

“This is me once again appreciating their love and support and I will always cherish Olusosun and its people. Thank You!.”

Meanwhile, according to photography journalist, Sulaiman Folarin popularly known as Pooja, Osimhen actually spent two days in his former ‘hood’ and gave the people gifts, especially money.

“Victor Osimhen hosted the Osimhen Super Cup to discover talents and gave back to the community by paying school fees, hospital bills and several financial support for families,” Pooja tweeted.

The community was where the grass to grace story of the Napoli goal machine was scripted and where it all began. He had lived in a one-room apartment in the area with his late parents and five siblings.
