'I was so wrong!' - Paul Scholes admits Liverpool prediction mistake before Man United clash

Paul Scholes has admitted he was "so wrong" to suggest that Liverpool would challenge for the Premier League title this season ahead of their clash with Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Erik ten Hag's side travel to Anfield to face Jurgen Klopp's men in the top flight, with United looking to close the gap on Manchester City and extend their lead over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds secured a 2-1 victory over the Merseyside club in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford in August and the two clubs have experienced contrasting fortunes since that clash. Ten Hag's men won their first trophy since 2017 last weekend and remain in the hunt for the quadruple, while Liverpool face a battle for a top-four spot.

United legend Scholes admitted he has been left shocked at how the Reds are currently 10 points clear of Liverpool in the Premier League table, while also praising Ten Hag for changing the feeling at Old Trafford this term.

Liverpool defeated United 4-0 the last time the two sides met at Anfield, having also secured a 5-0 victory over the Reds at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture. Scholes, who was covering the defeats, insisted he did not expect to see his former side improving so much in a short space of time.
