I was first Serie A Scots star and Man Utd selling Scott McTominay to Napoli is a terrible mistake
Man Utd selling Scott McTominay was a "terrible mistake" according to Scotland legend Joe Jordan as the former AC Milan hitman raved about his fellow countrymen currently tearing it up in Serie A.
Jordan was one of the few Scots to make an impact in Italy when he starred for the Rossoneri and Verona in the 80s. But the only man to have scored in three successive World Cups for Scotland. But with McTominay and Billy Gilmour starring for Napoli, Che Adams leading the line Torino and Lewis Ferguson captaining Bologna, there's a distinct tartan tint to the Italian top flight and Jordan has been impressed by all of his comaptriots.
He said: "Pride and work ethic - these are the values of the Scottish players in Italy. With Scott McTominay, Manchester United made a terrible mistake selling him. A mistake that I can only explain because of the confusion that has reigned in the club in recent years.
"He was at United for seven years, he was a starter, he played over 200 games, he won several cups. He's athletic, technical andhas the ability to score a lot of goals. He left a void in the middle of the pitch at United, increasing the problems of a team that already struggles to score goals.
"I look at the stats and I see that he has always played. He suits Napoli and Napoli suits him I don't know why United sold him - they definitely made a mistake. They're confused and they've changed too much in the last three or four years. Billy Gilmour hasn't played as much, but I like him too. He's not very big physically, but he's an intelligent player. For him, and even more so for McTominay, Napoli remains a great opportunity.
"Che Adams is a typical Scottish footballer - hard-working, always pressing. He also has a good eye for goal,
