I visited the country pub with the 'best beer garden in the UK' located just an hour from Manchester

Nestled beside the Leeds and Liverpool canals, there's a pub with an inviting beer garden that's perfect for a break from a country walk.

The Ring O'Bells in Lathom, West Lancashire, has recently scooped two accolades at the LUXlife Hospitality Awards 2024, securing the titles of 'country pub of the year' and 'best Sunday lunch'.

Billing itself as "a country pub - reimagined", The Ring O'Bells reopened its doors in November 2023 after undergoing a comprehensive refurbishment. The establishment strikes a balance between sleek, contemporary design and the warmth of a traditional country pub.

The pub's remarkable beer garden is a significant factor in its acclaim. When Dan Haygarth paid the pub a visit in November, he was impressed with the outside space and the service.

On a chilly canal walk, Dan found himself drawn towards the refurbished pub. An enticing sign on the facade of the charming 19th-century structure offers 'Ale, Cider, Meat' - a trio of temptations that lured him inside, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Describing the new interior, he said: "Inside, the bar area is decked out with vintage posters and maintains several original features while exuding a modern vibe. Beyond the chic bar lies a spacious conservatory dining room, framed by windows offering views towards the canal. But for me, the prime spot is undoubtedly an outdoor seat."

A courtyard and other terraces wrap around the expansive building, leading to a vast field that sets the pub apart from the canal. Dan added: "It's hard to find a better beer garden with stunning views of either the attractive pub or the canal complemented by an abundance of seating
