Discover city with 'world's cheapest beer' where bottle cost just £65p

Beer enthusiasts, it's time to celebrate as a recent study has unveiled the locations around the globe where you can get your hands on the most affordable bottle of beer.

Regrettably for us Brits, the cheapest city in the UK was Nottingham, which ranked 99th, with a bottle setting you back approximately £1.63.

However, the situation is quite different across the channel. According to experts at Magnet Kitchens, Italy, Germany and Spain offer the lowest prices for a pint. The study analysed 190 cities using crowdsourced data from Numbeo on the cost of a bottle of beer worldwide in 2024.

German towns dominated the top 10, with Wandsbek in the north of the country ranking as the tenth best-value location, where a bottle will only cost drinkers a mere 74p. Nuremberg, Bielefeld and Bremen were tied at just a penny less, while Zaragoza, known as the 'city of beer' in the north east of Spain, offered an enticing 72p ale.

Four more German cities came in joint-second, offering hops in 71p bottles in Wuppertal, Bochum, Bochum-Hordel and Dresden. However, it was a coastal city in southern Italy that clinched the top spot where beer lovers can enjoy a drink for as little as 65p.

Numbeo reveals that beer in Taranto is a staggering 11.5 times cheaper than the world's most expensive found in Darwin, Australia (£7.48). It was the only Italian city to make the top 10, with the next highest-ranking destination in the country being Messina, a harbour city in northeastern Sicily, which placed 51st.

Taranto has secured a spot in the top 10 for the cheapest bottle of wine worldwide, ranking seventh with a price tag of just £3.87, only outdone by Rome, where you can grab a bottle for a mere £2.80.
