I've been chief executive and Mauricio Pochettino is perfect for Man United on one condition

Mauricio Pochettino would be the perfect candidate to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United under Sir Jim Ratcliffe, according to former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin.

Pochettino was in the running for the head coach vacancy at Old Trafford in the past after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick. He recently became available after mutually agreeing to leave Chelsea.

Ipswich Town's Kieran McKenna and ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel have also emerged potential successors to Ten Hag should he be sacked after the FA Cup final on Saturday. Reports have suggested that Pochettino is keen to stay in the Premier League with him also linked with the England job. And according to Nevin, who was once chief executive at Motherwell, the former Tottenham boss would be perfect for United - if the Argentine is happy to work under the new structure INEOS are bringing to Old Trafford.

"Pochettino to Man United? Wouldn’t surprise me at all - again, it wouldn’t shock me because he’s a top level manager who has worked very well in the Premier League before," he told Spin Genie.

"I don’t think his stock has fallen a cent during his time at Chelsea, because people in football know the circumstances he was working in.
