'I transformed my tired old kitchen into a pink paradise for under £500 - and it took just three days'

More and more homeowners have taken up DIY in recent years as a way to cut costs and transform their house on a budget. Not only can you save money by doing jobs such as painting and upcycling furniture, but it also allows you to learn new skills and do the job exactly to your taste.

One DIY-savvy woman has manage to transform her 'tired and old' kitchen into a pink paradise, by spending less than £500 and completing the job within just a few days. Lindsey Isla Henderson, who is a fashion and interiors blogger, took it upon herself to give her kitchen space a makeover.

Lindsey was inspired to turn her property pink due to her love for the colour and went about sourcing the perfect colour to brighten up her once-dull kitchen. To keep costs down, she upcycled her kitchen cabinets, tiled the worktop sna added new hardware.

“Eventually this kitchen will be knocked down when we extend, so I thought it was the perfect excuse to have a bit of fun with it and I knew I could paint it any colour I fancied," Lindsey told Plank Hardware. "I love the colour pink, so it only felt right to create a pink paradise. I also love a colour-drenched room, so I thought I’d go top to toe pink.”

Lindsey started by removing any exciting appliances, picture hooks and cupboards before filling in any holes in the walls and cupboards with polyfilla and wood filler. Once it had dried, she sanded everything, including the walls.
