I saw why Bernardo Silva is a Man City captain after penalty decision and other big moments vs Everton

Manchester City were made to fight for their three points at Everton as the World Champions returned to domestic action with a well-earned win.

After falling behind to Jack Harrison's opener for Everton, and losing John Stones to injury, it looked like City's poor run in the Premier League would stretch to one win in seven. But a Phil Foden-led fightback saw City score three unanswered goals in the second half to cut the gap at the top to five points - with a game in hand.

City had plenty to shout about at Goodison Park - good and bad - with Pep Guardiola involved in the technical areas during a high-temper affair with tackles flying in.

We kept an eye out for the moments you might have missed from City's win at Everton on Wednesday:

Kyle Walker and Rodri were on the pitch, but with Kevin De Bruyne and Ruben Dias absent, Bernardo Silva was the third-highest ranked captain of the five-man group at Everton. Bernardo is yet to captain the side (even John Stones has worn the armband this season), but that doesn't stop him from showing his leadership credentials in another high-quality performance.

As well as rallying his side after falling behind, Bernardo played an important role after City were awarded a penalty for a handball against Amadou Onana in the second half. With VAR checking and Everton protesting, Bernardo walked over to the penalty spot and protected it from any Everton players trying to scuff the spot ahead of Julian Alvarez's kick as Jordan Pickford hovered.
