I rejected Man United but Erik ten Hag wants me again - I may sign for club's ex-star instead

Manchester United transfer target Youssouf Fofana looks set to link up with Zlatan Ibrahimovic at AC Milan.

Fofana, 25, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since last year. The Red Devils tried to sign the Monaco midfielder last summer, but he rejected their advances to stay with the Ligue 1 giants.

Erik ten Hag's side are still actively pursuing a move for the French international, but the Serie A giants appear to be the favourites to capture his signature. If he is to move to the San Siro, he will meet Ibrahimovic, who is working as an 'Operating Partner' and 'Senior Advisor to Ownership' for the European giants.

According to RMC Sport, Paulo Fonseca's side have reached an agreement over a four-year contract with Fofana, who has 21 international caps for France. All hope is not lost for United's chances of signing Fofana, as the Italian giants have not agreed a transfer fee with Monaco.

If they are able to get a deal over the line for Fofana, Ibrahimovic may be there to welcome him. The Swede, who contributed 29 goals and 10 assists in 53 appearances between 2016 and 2018 at Old Trafford, returned to Milan last December.

When he was appointed, a spokesperson from RedBird, the company that owns 99.93% of AC Milan, said: "Working in close coordination with both AC Milan Ownership and Senior Management, Ibra will play an active role across the Club’s sporting and business operations and will help reinforce the Club’s winning culture.
