I played up front for Man United - £63m Premier League goalscorer would be an ideal signing

Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak would be the perfect signing to solve Manchester United's goalscoring woes.

That is the verdict of former United forward Louis Saha, who also enjoyed a brief spell at Newcastle, too, and has risked the wrath of his former employers with his opinion on Isak's future.

Isak, who joined Newcastle in a £63million deal from Real Sociedad two years ago, scored 25 goals in all competitions for the Magpies last season.

The Swedish international forward has also scored in his last four games for Newcastle this season and he is a proven goalscorer at Premier League level.

Meanwhile, Rasmus Hojlund only has two goals to his name this term for United, while £36million summer signing Joshua Zirkzee has failed to find the net since scoring on his debut against Fulham in August.

As such, Saha feels Isak would be an ideal fit at Old Trafford but doubts Newcastle would sanction such a transfer.

“He’s a really good player that’s already adapted to the Premier League," Saha told Betfred.

"He scores goals, creates chances for his teammates and chances for himself, so I’m a big fan. Manchester United’s strikers currently need to link with other players to perform, where Isak doesn’t as much, so in that sense it would be an improvement.

"He would provide a lot of guarantees in terms of production, but Newcastle United and Manchester United are competing with each other at the moment, so I can’t realistically see this happening, but hopefully it could.”
