"I never thought I’d see anything like that... I can’t stop thinking about it": Witness who heard woman in her 20s fall from Stockport tower block tells of their horror

A witness who called for help after a woman fell from a tower block window has told of her shock following the tragic incident.

The witness, who did not wish to be named, had been staying with a friend at Norris Towers, Stockport. She told the Manchester Evening News that they had been watching TV when they heard something go past the window, in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday July 20).

Once she realised what had happened, she immediately rang 999 but sadly, a woman in her 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.

The witness said: "We were sat watching Gogglebox and we just heard a noise. It was the last thing that you’d think of happening.

"I never thought I’d see anything like that. I can’t stop thinking about it.

"It must have only been us that saw it because nobody else came out until the police turned up."

The witness said that emergency services arrived at just after 1am, 22 minutes after the initial 999 call. They left the scene just after 5am, the woman added.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that a file has been passed to the coroner and said that there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

In a statement, a GMP spokesman said: "Officers were called at 12.45am today (20 July 2022) to a report of a woman who had fallen from a window at an address on Wilkinson Road in Stockport. Emergency services attended and a woman in her 20s was sadly
