"I'm going to be completely honest" - Sky Sports reporter drops Pochettino to Man United claim

Manchester United will be taking a ‘massive risk’ if the Old Trafford hierarchy opt to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as the Red Devils’ next manager, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

Ralf Rangnick has been in the hot seat on an interim basis since November, but he will leave the dugout to take on a two-year consultancy role behind-the-scenes at the end of the season.

According to Sky Sports, Pochettino is on a four-man shortlist of options being discussed by Manchester United’s key decision-makers.

The report suggests Ajax chief Erik ten Hag, Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui and Luis Enrique – who is the Spain international side’s head coach – are also in the running to be unveiled as Rangnick’s long-term successor.

Pochettino is currently at the Paris Saint-Germain helm and on course to lead the French giants to the Ligue 1 title.

However, the Argentinian is expected to be sacked by the end of the season after failing to guide PSG through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League thanks to being knocked out by Real Madrid.

The Daily Mail have claimed Manchester United will have to convince Pochettino he is their number one choice in order for him to consider heading back to the Premier League.

Bridge believes Manchester United should be cautious ahead of making a decision over who is the right option to take the Red Devils forward.

The Sky Sports reporter has doubts over whether Pochettino should be the man the Old Trafford hierarchy turn to.

Bridge told GIVEMESPORT: “I’m going to be completely honest – I think Pochettino is a massive risk.”
