'I loved every minute of it' - Dean Henderson pinpoints key to Crystal Palace success at Man City

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson praised his side for staying in the game on Saturday before hitting Manchester City on the counter-attack.

Palace came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at the Etihad, with Michael Olise nicking a point with an added-time penalty following Jean-Phillipe Mateta's close-range finish. City had given themselves breathing space with goals either side of half-time from Jack Grealish and Rico Lewis.

But despite dominating possession, Pep Guardiola's side failed to kill the game off and were made to pay or their complacency. A depleted Eagles side defended resolutely throughout and Henderson was delighted to come away with a point.

"I think it was an unbelievable result," Henderson told Match of the Day. "Obviously to get a draw is fantastic. I loved every minute of it being back on the pitch. I think it’s been nearly a year since I last played so I’m delighted.

"Manchester City are a world class team and you’ve just got to try to stay in the game as long as you can and hopefully catch them on the break which we did. We stuck to the game plan.

"The manager was unbelievable with the messages through the week. The boys deserve all the credit because it’s hard work against them.”

City are now winless in three consecutive home Premier League games for the first time since 2016 and on their lowest points tally after 17 games under Guardiola. They are three points behind league leaders Liverpool, who will play twice before the Blues are next in domestic action.
