How Man City should line up vs Urawa Red Diamonds in Club World Cup semi-final

Manchester City can book their place in the Club World Cup final but must navigate their way past Asian Champions League winners Urawa Red Diamonds on Tuesday.

Urawa knocked out CONMEBOL Champions League winners Club Leon last week to set up a semi-final with City, who can add the Club World Cup to their own Champions League title and Super Cup trophies. Pep Guardiola must raise his side after a frustrating draw against Crystal Palace last weekend, ahead of two games that could see his side become world champions for the first time.

Erling Haaland looks set to miss out again, as does Jeremy Doku, while Kevin De Bruyne trained on Monday with his teammates but is presumably not yet match-fit. That could see Guardiola go with a similar side to the one that faced Palace - although the likes of John Stones, Mateo Kovacic, Manu Akanji and Matheus Nunes were all on the bench and may hope to feature.

I wouldn't risk Haaland or Doku, even if they are available. City should beat Urawa and can even afford to make some changes after the weekend's draw. Rico Lewis has been great recently, but Kovacic has three winners' medals in this competition and can use that experience to help his teammates. Bernardo Silva can also benefit from a rest ahead of a hopeful final, with Nunes good last week in Europe.
