I laughed at Erik ten Hag verdict that proves Manchester United critics have short memories

Manchester United's 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich on Wednesday night was not an ideal performance or result. The hosts benefitted from a generous VAR decision but ultimately it would have been an injustice if Bayern had let their lead slip.

In the aftermath which has followed the defeat in Germany, some quarters have taken it upon themselves to launch attacks on United. Some can be argued as being justified. Andre Onana's error which led to the Bayern opener was pretty unforgivable for the first-choice goalkeeper at United and the defending, particularly for the Bavarian club's fourth, was entirely preventable.

However, some of the short-term revisionism which has followed the third straight loss is nothing short of laughable. A case in point is former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood.

Speaking on the William Hill podcast, Sherwood proclaimed Erik ten Hag had not improved a single player since arriving at Old Trafford. Explaining his stance, the 54-year-old said: "Erik ten Hag hasn’t improved a single Manchester United player in his time there. I can’t think of any.

"There are different facets to management. You can be a training ground manager and have your own style of play and all that, but at times it simply comes down to man management."
