I know how hurting Hearts lads feel after Rangers rout and this is what I would be saying to them - Ryan Stevenson

Right boys. The best way for everyone to forget this is for us to go out and absolutely batter Hibs.

I wasn’t in the changing rooms at the Oriam on Monday morning. But I can guarantee that is what the speeches would have been in there among the hurting Hearts lads. It’s certainly what I’d have been saying. Those boys wouldn’t even need the manager or a member of the coaching staff to talk to them.

Having been blown away by Rangers and losing five goals, the messages would have been very clear and very simple. During my time at Hearts, on the Monday morning, we would have been sitting there and passing those words to each other. I can say that with some certainty because I have been there. There was a time when I scored an own goal when we were heavily beaten at home by Celtic. I once scored an own goal against Rangers at Ibrox, too.

Back in 2013, we were absolutely spanked by Celtic at home. We were scudded 7-0 at Tynecastle and the feeling is horrible. After the game, you go into the changing room and the first feeling you have is to be embarrassed because you never want to be hammered like that.

But at the same time, you can’t start over-analysing and looking too deeply into it, especially when it has come on the back of such a superb run of form. Quite simply, it is just a write-off. Honestly. I’m not going to kick Hearts over it.

I have watched Rangers a few times since Philippe Clement has gone into the club having also seen some matches when Michael Beale was there. The way
