I heard what Kobbie Mainoo did after Man United injury and it will alert Real Madrid

Manchester United may not have enjoyed much joy last season until the very last day of the campaign, but one positive was the emergence of academy players blossoming at Old Trafford.

Alejandro Garnacho stepped up to the mark while the now-departed Willy Kambwala was a much-needed rock at the back. However, it was Kobbie Mainoo who really stole the show in his breakthrough season.

Despite only making his debut in November, Mainoo quickly became the missing piece in the United midfield and shone for the remainder of the campaign. This form led to him gaining a deserved call-up for Euro 2024 and a starting spot in the final against Spain.

Mainoo is heading into the new season hoping for a year that does not involve injury woes. The 19-year-old was due to make an impact in the United squad from the beginning of the campaign but an unfortunate injury in the clash with Real Madrid led to him being sidelined.

It was during that time in the treatment room that Mainoo took up learning Spanish to pass the time. While by his own admission on Sky Sports, he has not retained too much of it, Los Blancos will have been put on red alert by the midfielder's hobby.

In April, Don Diario reported that Real were keen on adding a young midfielder to their squad and that Mainoo had caught the eye of the powers that be. In the short term, United need not worry about Mainoo looking elsewhere.

However, it is an issue which United will have to monitor especially if the Reds have not returned to the top of the Premier League and Champions League in a few years time.
