Humza Yousaf would be 'Celtic chairman' in alternate universe as FM reveals how Parkhead passion was born

Humza Yousaf said he would be "Celtic chairman" if he hadn't gone into politics.

The First Minister has never hidden his support for the Hoops. But he's now admitted that leading them from the boardroom would have been his ideal gig had he not followed a different path and ended up leading the country. Mr Yousaf was asked about an alternative career path on the Pod Save the UK podcast with Comedian Nish Kumar and journalist Coco Khan.

They grilled him on behalf of a listener, who pre-empted their question to the leader of the Scottish Government with "It's got to be something to do with Celtic." And the SNP leader answered while laughing: "Yes, I mean other than being chairman of Celtic Football Club, which is of course what I would be doing if I wasn't in politics." He then went on to reveal that he would have most likely entered the legal profession.

Earlier this week, the First Minister explained on The rest Is Politics podcast how long his association with the Premiership champions goes back. he said: "I've been a Celtic fan since I was six years old, so to somehow pretend I wasn't a Celtic fan would be a bit ridiculous.

"My late uncle, who sadly passed away quite young from pancreatic cancer, took me to my first Celtic game and i just fell in love with the club."
