'Humble' Huddersfield Town manager praised after helping fans on train

Huddersfield Town fans were “shocked” after the Championship manager got on their train - but was seated in the standard section instead of first class.

Edward Stone was on the train heading to Leeds with his girlfriend after spending the weekend in the capital when he saw the manager earlier today (Monday).

The 25-year-old was stunned when Sorba Thomas walked through the standard coach taking pictures with fans then Carlos Corberan, also came onto the same train.

He said the pair took pictures and signed autographs for fans who thought they would have been in the first class coach but instead were sat surrounded by fans.

The Huddersfield Town coach was even captured helping fans with luggage and someone with a pram when the train reached Leeds.

Edward described him as a “really friendly and nice guy”.

He said: “Me and my girlfriend were down in London. He was in economy with fans signing autographs and taking pictures with fans, when everyone was getting off at Leeds, he was helping fans with luggage.

“I was surprised when we first got on. (Sorba) Thomas walked through the train carriage then Carlos Corberán came on.

“I’m not a Huddersfield Town fan, we were in London to go to the theatre for my girlfriends birthday. I don’t follow town but I like football so I recognised who he was.

“The fans were shocked to see him, you could hear fans saying ‘oh my gosh I can’t believe he is here’ instead of the first class. They said he was humble to sit in the carriage with him.

“I thought he would have got the coach down with the rest of the team.”
