Key Huddersfield Town figures with big summers amid takeover, transfers and training efforts

Huddersfield Town’s pre-season is beginning to take shape with three friendlies booked in and a training camp at St George’s Park on the agenda for Carlos Corberan and his squad.

The Terriers will be hoping to keep their momentum going into the new season and put themselves in a good position to challenge for promotion again after falling 90 minutes short of the Premier League last time out.

To that end, Town will need everybody at the club pulling in the same direction – but there are a few individuals on and off the pitch who have particularly pivotal summers ahead of them.

The takeover is almost complete, and while at this stage getting it over the line is a formality given Hoyle has already been back in charge at the top of the club for the past eight months, it would nonetheless be a relief to have some certainty over the future of the club after avoiding what could have been turbulent times off the pitch last season.

It was announced in April that Hoyle intends to remain in the chief executive role until further notice, but getting the takeover done might allow him to consider how he wants the board and senior staff to be structured longer term - even if ultimately he decides he's happy to continue with things as they are.

The head of football operations is responsible for more than just transfers but that will surely be his main focus at this time of year. We’ve already written a more thorough summary of how the transfer window looks, so we won’t repeat ourselves here; but it can only be hoped Town can replicate the job they did so well last summer. The departure of head of recruitment Josh Marsh for Swansea potentially gives the club a different kind of recruitment decision to make, too.
