Danel Sinani makes Huddersfield Town transfer claim after Norwich City loan ends

Norwich City’s Danel Sinani has claimed that Huddersfield Town told him they would take up the option to make his loan move into a permanent deal if they had won promotion to the Premier League.

The versatile attacker spent last season at the John Smith’s Stadium, starting regularly for Carlos Corberan’s side and racking up seven goals and five assists to help the side attain a third-place finish and a place at the play-off final.

Norwich and Town had an agreement in place that Sinani’s stay could have been made permanent for a £1.5m transfer fee, which the Terriers opted not to take up – but Sinani has suggested that things may have been different if they had been able to overcome Nottingham Forest at Wembley.

He told Luxembourgish outlet L’essentiel: “Huddersfield had clearly told me that if we went up they would activate the option to buy, but that if not, it would be difficult financially.

“Now I've had a season in the Championship and Norwich know how I work, but I have one year left on my contract and I don't know if they'll keep me. I will know more in a few weeks.”

Speaking of his new-found experience in the English second tier after a year in Belgium, Sinani said: “You can’t compare, the matches are much harder in the Championship. I improved in the intensity of my runs, and also defensively. And then of course, you have to work a lot physically in England.”
