Hull KR talking points: huge win, slow start and Mikey Lewis

Hull KR edged out Wakefield Trinity 15-10 at Sewell Group Craven Park on Sunday afternoon, with tries from Jimmy Keinhorst, Ethan Ryan and Lachlan Coote.

Trinity tried to mount a second-half comeback and nearly stole the two points from the Robins in the dying stages, but some resilient defence from Danny McGuire's men denied Wakefield the win.

As said before the game, it didn't matter how big Hull KR won by. All that mattered was the Robins picked up a much-needed victory. Of course, the hearts were in the mouths of both the players and the supporters when Lachlan Coote knocked on with 5 minutes to play, but the outpour of emotions when the hooter went showed what this win meant for the team as a whole. The win now sees KR six points above Wakefield and Toulouse in eighth position on the Super League ladder, with Rovers still to play the pair once more before 2022 is over. There's still plenty of work to be done, but Sunday's victory has done Danny McGuire's side a world of good.

Against a different opposition, it is fair to say Hull KR probably would have shipped plenty of points in the first half. Danny McGuire admitted he gave his side the hairdryer treatment at the interval, and boy did it work. It was scrappy for sure, but that second-half grind will have done wonders for the Robins confidence. They must ensure they start better in the up and coming weeks, as sides like Wigan and St Helens will punish you if they are allowed to bully a side from the off.
