Hull FC statement as Josh Reynolds' departure confirmed after agreement reached

Hull FC have confirmed the departure of Josh Reynolds. The Australian leaves the Black and Whites after one and a half seasons at the club.

Hull Live first reported that Reynolds was set to leave Hull over the weekend, with the club announcing the two parties have now come to a mutual agreement and his contract has been terminated with immediate effect.

Reynolds struggled for any continuity in his form at Hull. Injuries didn't help, but eventually both fans and senior management lost patience with the marquee player, who could still remain in the country and look for another deal.

It's a move that for various reasons just hasn't worked out, with Brett Hodgson confirming in his press conference on Tuesday afternoon that talks were in their final stages.

Hull FC said in a brief club statement; "Hull FC can confirm that Josh Reynolds has left the club with immediate effect. Both parties have mutually agreed that the Australian will not be staying with the club for the 2023 Betfred Super League season.

"As a result of that agreement, the club has further agreed with the player that he can depart immediately to open up pathways for future talent in the squad.

"Since arriving at the MKM Stadium in 2021, Reynolds made 25 appearances for Hull, scoring seven tries. The club would like to thank Josh for his efforts, whilst wishing him luck for the future."

Hull are now looking for a replacement for Reynolds and are understood to have lined up several options as they bid to bring a new face in as soon as possible for the second half of the campaign.
