Hull FC see Ligi Sao appeal rejected

Hull FC have had their appeal for Ligi Sao rejected by the Operational Rules Tribunal.

The forward had received a two-match suspension for Grade B other contrary behaviour in their defeat to Leeds.

He will miss the Hull derby at Newcastle’s Magic Weekend and the club’s trip to Wigan the following week.

The Rugby Football League said: “In tonight’s final hearing, the independent Operational Rules Tribunal has rejected an appeal by Hull FC against the two-match suspension imposed on Ligi Sao for Grade B “other contrary behaviour” in Saturday’s Betfred Super League match against Leeds. The two-match ban stands.”

Meanwhile, Halifax Panthers centre Greg Worthington has been found guilty of a Grade D charge of punching against Barrow in the Championship. The 31-year-old threw punches at opposition and France international Hakim Miloudi. He has received a three-match ban.

St Helens forward Matty Lees has been cleared to play against Wigan at Magic Weekend after the club successfully appealed his one-match ban.

The 24-year-old has received the suspension with a Grade A High Tackle charge in the club’s defeat to Catalans.

St Helens challenged the ruling and the Operational Rules Tribunal have since found Matty Lees not guilty meaning no charge stands.

He will therefore be free to feature at Newcastle’s St James’ Park this weekend against Wigan Warriors. The clash will be the second
