Hull City star calls on fans to back Acun Ilicali's ownership

Jacob Greaves hopes there will be no repeat of the shambolic display Hull City offered up against Barnsley when Luton Town arrive at the MKM Stadium on Saturday.

The 2-0 defeat to the Tykes last month was the first of Acun Ilicali’s £2 ticket offer games, with 16,241 watching the poorest showing of the season, but with renewed hope, and performances since, there’s a growing air of positivity ahead of Saturday’s showdown with the Hatters in front of what’s expected to be the biggest crowd of the campaign.

Greaves played a starring role on Wednesday night in the 2-0 win at Coventry City, and hopes the Tigers’ impressive away form can inspire them to a morale-boosting home win and end a run of four straight defeats at home. "It’s what you want, it’s good to see what the new owner is doing with the £2 ticket offer and it’s attracting a lot of different fans from different backgrounds,” he told Hull Live.

Crowds have been increasingly steadily since Ilicali’s takeover from the Allam family in January, and with the West Stand upper tier open for the first time in five years, Greaves hopes the fans inside the stadium can help end their dreadful run of form in front of their own spectators.

“Hopefully we can get as many fans in as possible that didn’t want to come under the previous owners, but now we’ve got new owners in, there’s not that excuse for them not to come back, so hopefully we can get a lot more fans back in the ground,” he said.
