Hull City fixtures throws up clash with Tigers at home same day Hull FC host KR

Hull FC are set to host Hull KR on the September 3, on the same day and at the same time that Hull City have been scheduled to play Sheffield United, with the Championship football fixtures coming out this Thursday morning.

The final Hull Derby of the season, unless the two sides would go on to meet in the Super League play-offs, takes place on the last regular round of the year, with the MKM Stadium the venue. That could present a problem for the Stadium Management Company, with Hull City's home game against the Blades provisionally set for a 3pm kick-off also.

Of course, Sky Sports are yet to announce their televised fixtures for that round, and there's a chance the Hull Derby, one of the best fixtures in the competition, would be selected for television coverage and could be played the previous day, or even two days before.

However, that presents another problem, as Round 27 comes the week after a Bank Holiday double-header weekend. Hull will already be feeling the fatigue of that following games against Salford on the Thursday, and Toulouse on the Sunday.

The last thing they, and Rovers, would want is the Derby being brought forward to the Friday night, or worse still, the Thursday, cutting short recovery and preparation time in what could be a crucial point of the season for both sides.

A lot will depend on what Sky Sports intend to do, but this could also test Hull FC's current relationship with the SMC following Hull City's takeover earlier this year.
